Greetings to all:
Summer is fading. Shorter days, cooler nights and the ever spectacular fall colors are
beginning to emerge. It is one of the most scenic times of the year in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
We have one major project in progress and, as always, lots scheduled for our November maintenance week. A replacement of a section of the roof is under way. The roof is 24 years old and specific sections are affecting some of the rooms and hallways on our upper floors. To be cost effective with our Reserve Funds we are only replacing the section that is currently a problem area for us. This project should offer minor noise and inconvenience, and is planned to be completed by the end of September.
For the fall maintenance period, we have several projects scheduled. The sofa sleepers in all units are scheduled to be replaced with a newly designed sleeper. This design eliminates the metal frame, as on previous beds, and offers a firm and comfortable sleeping surface. We will also be replacing the lobby and 5th floor hallway carpet. North side rooms will be receiving new bedspreads. We will continue with ongoing projects including: granite kitchen counters, tile floors in bathrooms, drapery replacement in select rooms and paint for a block of rooms. Plus, a variety of housekeeping and maintenance chores including steam cleaning of carpets and furniture fabrics.
There will be a one day only opportunity to purchase the old sofas. Please watch our web site for more information or e-mail me at jmaxwell@snowbird.com. Please no phone calls.
As diligently as we work to keep the Iron Blosam updated, we are still a 30-plus-year-old building. We have many built-in challenges that are, unfortunately, very difficult to change. Our two elevators do not have the capacity to handle the rush of business we get during peak check-in and check-out periods. Our loading zones, luggage carts, front desk staffing, and elevators are generally pushed beyond capacity during these peak periods. If convenient you may want to consider arriving later than the busy 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. check-in time or departing earlier than the 9 a.m to 10 a.m check-out period. If you do arrive or depart during these periods, we ask that you be patience as we work to get everyone to and from their rooms.
Protecting our environment and reducing energy cost are always primary concerns for us. We continue to work diligently to make Iron Blosam more energy efficient and also to improve our recycling capabilities. Our partnership with Salt Lake County has been so successful that we have added a second recycle container. We can recycle aluminum, cardboard, plastic, many kinds of paper products, and most cans. No, we cannot recycle glass. The County container eliminates the need to sort different items. You can drop your recyclable items by our Housekeeping office, the Front Desk, call for a pick-up, or drop it directly in the Recycle Container outside the front of the building.
Pool Safety:
Salt Lake County has had an epidemic number of pool related illnesses reported this summer. Although the Snowbird pools have an outstanding safety record and we do
everything possible to maintain the cleanliness and quality of our pools, please be aware
that there are currently Special Salt Lake County Mandated restrictions on all pools in Salt Lake County (including Snowbird). It is important that our owners respect these special regulations as they are enacted to promote the health and safety of pools throughout Salt Lake County. The mandated County restrictions include a ban on children under 5 years of age using any of our pool facilities. A complete copy of the Salt Lake County Health Department requirements will be available at check-in. These restrictions are temporary, but we have no estimation as to when they will be alleviated. We will update our information for owners as they arrive.
It is important to respect your ownership and your valuable vacation time at the Iron Blosam. As owners, it is important that you be informed and inform your guests of the Iron Blosam House Rules and Policies. They are enacted to help everyone enjoy their valuable vacation time and to protect their financial investment at the Iron Blosam. Owners will be held financially accountable for units that are misused, damaged or that require additional cleaning time above normal standards.
Please remind your guests that the Iron Blosam is a smoke-free facility!
Please note that each room does have established occupancy restrictions for the sleeping capacity and usage of the pool and spa facilities.
Don’t forget to submit your photos, of your week, to our photo contest.
Please take a moment to complete our online survey. Your input helps us maintain and improve our quality. We want to hear from you!
Once again, we look forward to seeing all our fall friends soon. As always, if we may be of any assistance to you, please take the time to contact us.
